According to yesterday's Reuters story Ford is "doubling" the Lightning production due to demand. 15,000 trucks in 2022 and 55,000 in 2023. If the reported 120,000+ reservations is accurate and the majority are converted to firm orders, many current reservation holders will be waiting until well into 2024 before getting their truck. I thought earlier production estimates for 2022 and 2023 were much higher than this "doubling" announcement. Anyone hearing different, hopefully higher, production projections?

I'm with you on these new numbers being reported. I was under the impression the first year production was going to be 80,000 trucks. First year production for the Mach-E is suppose to be 50,000. 20K for North America and 30k for Europe.

Another piece to the puzzle is the availability of computer chips to go into the vehicles. When COVID started, and people weren't buying cars, but buying electronics for Zoom classes and remote work, the chip manufacturers switched much of the production that direction. Now that people are buying cars/trucks again, there supply of computer chips for the cars is limited, which is limiting production.
So I wouldn't be surprised at all that the first year's numbers are still rather low, but rapidly increasing as the work through supply chain issues for components.

Agree. 80,000 is the number I remember first being mentioned several months ago.
