Rumor: Ford F-150 Lightning Orders will Open On October 26

According to a post on the Lightningowner, a Ford dealer sent info to reservation holders that the Ford Lightning order bank is scheduled to open on October 26.

"Good afternoon ************, this is ******* with ****** . I just found out that the F-150 Lightning order bank is scheduled to open on 10/26. At that point we will be able to convert reservations to orders an actually build out your truck. I'm looking forward to it. While reservations are time stamped, when we submit the order still matters. Feel free to call me with any questions at <phone number>. I will reach out when we get a little closer to see about scheduling an appointment to get together and build your truck. Have a great day."."

Can anyone else confirm this?

I emailed my dealer when I heard that rumor - he responded on 9/23 with this:
"I hear the same rumors. I have not gotten anything concrete from Ford.

I do know they were planning to get the order banks open this Fall so that sounds likely."

Man, I hope this is true. The waiting is driving me nuts. Although, waiting for delivery will be worse. My brother-in-law is still waiting for his Bronco.

The Bronco Raptor guys are hoping for the order banks to open as well and they posted up a dealer notice confirming that the order banks are opening for the Bronco on October 13th and the Lightning on the 26th.

"Ford aims to produce 15,000 units of the F-150 Lightning in 2022, a total of 55,000 in 2023 and the aforementioned 80,000 in 2024." - Reuters, Aug 24th article

It doesn't look very promising for most of us in 2022.

I put in my reservation the evening of day 3 #10896xxx if we can convince 1/2 the people who reserved in front of me to wait for the Tesla truck that would be great ;)

Not sure how accurate this is, but my dealer said they are expecting 80-85% of reservations to drop before any Lightnings hit the showroom floor. I hope that's true because I'm roughly in the middle of the pack.

That Reuters article did not give it's source on those numbers, but it was not an official Ford Motors source.

Ford EV head Darren Palmer later said the rumored 15k-18k numbers were WRONG. He did not give a correct number, but we can assume it's higher when he says "we're not getting into EVs just to build a few." They're ramping up to 80k/year as quickly as they can, so the 2022 numbers will depend on how fast that ramp-up goes.

Confirmed. My local dealer in Maryland (Waldorf Ford) sent me an unsolicited email (30 minutes after I reserved a Lightning) that the order bank will open Tuesday, October 26. I reserved on 10/09/21, 11272778.

I met with my Ford Lightning Rep/Salesperson today. He confirmed that Order Bank opens Oct 26. He said that the online configurator will open the same day. Had heard it would open earlier but this is what he told me. He said that there are many variables involved in the order process after experience with the Bronco. Trim, Options, Color, Etc. I am in the middle of the pack at my dealership with my June 15 reservation date. He seemed very confident that I would be able to place my order on Oct 27 (my appt date) and have my truck delivered in 2022. We shall see. Let me know what you folks are hearing out there. BTW confirmed sale price at MSRP no ADM at my store. Thanks, Walt

I don’t understand the discrepancies between the dealers. I spoke with the General Manager at the dealer that I reserved with. He informed me that they have NOT received any official information from Ford on when and how the ordering will take place. He also said that all dealer would get that information at the same time. Ford would not give it to only some. He said the October 26 date, at this time, is just a rumor base on a screen shot of a computer screen. He also said that any dealer contacting their reservation holders at this time regarding the October 26 date are not being truthfu. They will contact their reservation holder when and only when they have an official communication from Ford. 🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️

I have a confirmed appt. to place my order Oct. 29th, I tried to get it earlier, but was told Oct. 26th was not confirmed. In the event it DOES open earlier, I will be able to get in earlier. It will be the Platinum for sure, hopefully they will go to the high dollar trims for production first (profit margin). I placed my reservation a few hours after the release, and am somewhat confident of seeing the vehicle next year. I am pretty good friends with the GM, so I trust what he is telling me, just like when we got our Mach E.

I emailed my dealer again the other day to confirm Oct 26 order bank opening, his response is below:

"Yessir, order banks are scheduled to open October 26th. At that point we will know what options will be available.

I will definitely be reaching out to you then."

I am sure he will reach out to you and take your money but until then don't frikin bother me, That is what they are all saying

Talked to the sales manager at my local Ford dealer. He said that he spoke to the regional Ford rep last week and was told that Ford has made no official announcement as to when the F150 Lightning order bank will open. The sales manager said that the Ford Regional rep stated that there were only rumors, but nothing official.

Just received this from the GM at my dealer.

Ford has not released any new info as of yet. We are hoping to receive an update towards the end of the year. If anything should change we will keep you posted.

Thank you again for the opportunity to serve you in your car buying process.

Warm regards,”

I just came from the Ford Lightning demo in Dallas texas. I talked to the Ford Lightning specialist and he told me that if you ordered early then you will be getting something soon to get with your dealer and order. He said the last ward he got was that ford was going to do it in 4 or 5 segments by who reserve first then second and so on. He said since I reserved in the first 3 days I should be getting something soon to place my order but it is steal her say. That is the fastest vehicle I have ever been in I could not pul my head off the headrest.

Thanks for the info. So if you reserved on May 19th, 20th or 21st you will be in the 1st segment? Did they mentioned anything on how the dealer allocations, regional location and trim levels would effect the ordering process?

Also, where can I find out the schedule of the upcoming Ford Lightning demo locations? Thx!
